Catawba River Tailwater Report 3-11-12

I spent the day floating the Catawba river below lake James with my good friend Jamey. The fishing was steady throughout the day with some nicer holdover fish in the mix. There was a mix off caddis, mayflies, and midges in the air. Fish were feeding on top, but the subsurface bite yielded more fish. I even managed a nice bass. The fish that the NCWRC stocked last year are spread out and doing well. If you fish the Catawba river below lake James, make sure to de-barb your hooks, and remember the section from Bridgewater to Muddy creek is under Hatchery Supported Regs, which means it is closed to fishing until the first Sat. in April.

This is why I love brown trout, they have no off switch!
